The Foundational Questions Institute, styled FQXi, is an organization which provides grants to “catalyze, support, and disseminate research on questions at the foundations of physics and cosmology.” 1 2 It has run two world-wide grant competitions, with the second competition currently in progress. The first competition provided US $2M to 30 projects, including Antony Garrett Lisi’s research leading to the paper “An Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything.” 3
FQXi is an independent, philanthropically funded non-profit organization, run by scientists for scientists, with a Scientific Advisory Board including Alan Guth, Martin Rees and Frank Wilczek. The seed funding was donated by the John Templeton Foundation.
