This category is for stub articles about geographical locations. You can help Wikipedia by expanding them.

To add an article to this category, use {{geo-stub}} rather than {{stub}}. When appropriate, an even more specific template should be used from among those noted below.

• Articles about specific buildings and structures use the {{Struct-stub}} template and sub-category, or one of its subtypes.
• Articles about terminology used in geography use the {{Geo-term-stub}} template and sub-category, or one of its subtypes.
• Articles about roads, streets, and highways use the {{Road-stub}} template and subcategory, or one of its subtypes.

Country-specific templates

Most countries now have country-specific stub templates and categories, in the form {{CountryName-geo-stub}} and Cat:Country Name geography stubs (for example, {{SriLanka-geo-stub}} and Cat:Sri Lanka geography stubs). Many of these countries are further broken down by regions. A full list of these categories and templates can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types/Geographical. A list of the exceptions to this naming rule can be found below:

• {{UK-geo-stub}} for the United Kingdom
• {{US-geo-stub}} for the United States
• {{Maldives-geo-stub}} for the Maldive Islands (many island groups follow this pattern - Bahamas, Marshalls, Solomons, etc.)
• {{DRCongo-geo-stub}} and {{RCongo-geo-stub}} for the Congo Democratic Republic and the Republic of the Congo respectively
• {{Micronesia-geo-stub}} for the Federated States of Micronesia
• {{SaintVincent-geo-stub}} for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
• {{SaintKittsNevis-geo-stub}} for Saint Kitts and Nevis (several countries follow this pattern - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turks and Caicos Islands, São Tomé and Príncipe, etc.)
• {{SouthGeorgia-geo-stub}} for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
• {{US-Pacific-geo-stub}} for the United States' Unincorporated Territories in the Pacific

Countries without country specific templates

The following countries and regions do not yet have their own templates, due to the small number of stub articles each has or for other reasons (such as problematic political status). They are divided into regional or continental categories and use appropriate templates as listed. These templates and categories are also used where an article deals with a large number of countries within a region. If you wish to create a stub type for these countries, it should first be proposed at WP:WSS/P for debate.

• For the French Southern and Antarctic Territories use {{Outremer-geo-stub}} and {{Subantarctic-geo-stub}}
• For Spain's Plazas de Soberanía in Africa, use {{Spain-geo-stub}}

NB: {{Antarctica-geo-stub}} is used for all of the Antarctic covered by the Antarctic Treaty except the subantarctic islands, which use {{Subantarctic-geo-stub}}
